Значение в области литературы: американская литературная премия.

Премия учреждена: в 1936 году Американской ассоциации книготорговцев. Возрождена в 1950 году.

Победители выбираются: жюри.

Премия присуждается: один раз в год.

Лауреаты награждаются: памятной статуэткой и денежной премией в размере 10 тысяч долларов (финалисты получают по 1 тысячи долларов).
